In 1977 I started a portrait project of people and their cats with the title: Cats and Other Lovers. Many were friends and others I found through a Windy City Times advert. Fifteen years later when I met my future husband, he shared his philosophy that cats are rejected admirers from a past life who were spurned and have come back to demand the love they were denied. These are a selection of portraits of cats and those who finally loved them.
